Stefanie Pender supervises robotics research at the Autodesk Technology Center Boston where she works hands-on with research engineers and customers to create and deploy custom automated workflows. She specializes in robotic programming and integration within a range of manufacturing and construction applications. Recent projects include a robotically fabricated smart bridge utilizing hybrid manufacturing (collaboration with the DAR Group), developing construction use cases of a Boston Dynamic’s SPOT robot at Skanska’s jobsites, and assisting AI SpaceFactory on their winning construction of a MARS habitat for NASA’s 3D Printed Habitat Challenge. Stefanie is dedicated to how we may utilize skilled labor and tacit material knowledge to inform process parameters within automation within the manufacturing and construction industries. She studied and taught traditional hands-on craft processes and digital fabrication at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she began combining CNC technologies with traditional technical processes.
